Metrowest Daily News 3/8/11: Wayland School Committee accepts $32.4M budget. The School Committee last night voted to present a $32.4 million budget for fiscal 2012 at Town Meeting next month. The budget represents a 1.63% increase from this year. With an estimated additional $1.3 million in offsets and other fees, the total budget for the school year, the first under new Superintendent Paul Stein pending successful contract negotiations, will be $32.4 million. Breaking down the budget, 80% would go directly to instructional services to students, including out-of-district special education tuition charges; 6.3% for extracurricular activities, such as athletics and after-school clubs, and student transportation; 3.4% for administration, including oversight of curriculum and special education services; and nearly 10% for operations and maintenance. Base salaries for school employees are expected to rise nearly 1.2% annually from fiscal 2011 to 2014.
