Puttin’ on a Little Ritz with the Golden Tones and Midlife Crisis, April 10 at Sandy Burr

The Golden Tones Senior Chorus and the MidLife Crisis Band will rock the house during “Puttin’ On a Little Ritz,” a FUNraiser for the Golden Tones musical outreach program on Sunday, April 10, from 3-6 pm at the Sandy Burr Country Club in Wayland.  The event will include MetroWest's most danceable tunes, live and silent auctions, raffles, refreshments, a cash bar, a variety of homemade pastries, and a short concert by the Golden Tones.

The Ritz silent auction will offer bidders over 100 posh items from local vendors, including hand-crafted goods, collectibles, casual and fine dining opportunities, sports and museum tickets, and pampering services of all kinds.  The Ritz live auction will feature Red Sox tickets, original artwork, week-end getaways, a fur coat, and a year of home-made desserts by the Gorgeous Golden Gourmets.

The festivities will also feature the drawing of a 50/50 Raffle winner, with the prize value determined by the number of tickets sold.  These raffle tickets are available now and the winner does not have to be present at the event.  To enter, contact the Golden Tones at (508) 318-6318 or www.goldentones.org.  In addition, one lucky Ritz guest will win a Bose Acoustic Wave Music II System, valued at $1,000.

The MidLife Crisis Band was a big hit at last year's Ritz; guests filled the dance floor all afternoon and enjoyed the variety of music. The band formed in 2002 and most of the original rockers are still with the outfit.  The current  lineup of all Wayland residents, Charlie D'Ambrosio, Steve Robb, James Winoker, Jamie Pierce, and Bob Lutz, were all involved in music earlier in life and share the same aspirations, "We wished we were rock stars."

The band receives rave reviews for their performances at clubs, birthday and graduation parties, weddings, and at any occasion "where they want our music".  "It's nice to be able to raise money for non-profit groups who are doing good things," says Robb. The Golden Tones Chorus has become well-regarded in the MetroWest area for its weekly performances at schools, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, senior centers, and intergenerational and community events.  CNN chose the Golden Tones to exemplify how seniors can keep healthy by singing.  This segment of CNN's AccentHealth program, broadcast to 17,000 medical facilities, can be seen at www.goldentones.org.

An audition-free performing group welcoming new members year-round, the Golden Tones chorus sings a variety of music from Broadway, the Great American Songbook, folk traditions, and other fun selections suggested by members and the director.  Their shows feature dancing, costumes, clowning, and of course, multi-part choral singing.  The singers are looking forward to raising the roof with the self-described "graying rockers" of the MidLife Crisis band at the Ritz FUNraiser.

To reserve tickets for an exciting afternoon of singing, dancing, bidding, and refreshments, for only a tax-deductible donation of $25, call 508-358-7962.
