Jeff’s Place, a Wayland-based support group program for grieving children, teens and families throughout the MetroWest, needs your help!

Jeff's Place is looking for volunteer facilitators to lead peer-based support groups. No experience necessary. They provide comprehensive training. You can take the training and then decide if it feels “right” for you.  They only offer these trainings once or twice a year, so please join now. Training dates are Saturday, April 2 (9am-5pm), Monday, April 4 (5:30-9:30pm), Saturday, April 9 (9am-5pm), and Monday, April 11 (5:30-9:30pm). And they need you to join our planning committee for their Comedy Night and Cocktail Reception to benefit Jeff’s Place on June 4.After a family-style pizza dinner, trained facilitators lead individual peer groups in age-appropriate projects and discussions to enable participants to share their experiences of loss in a safe and supportive environment. Their philosophy is based on the belief that grief is a natural and normal response to loss, and through the use of peer-based support groups, participants feel connected to one another and less isolated in their experiences of loss. This is a preventative approach with the intention of facilitating healing through the development of concrete coping and life skills. Jeff’s Place provides the opportunity to integrate loss experiences into a healthy part of one’s self, develop greater self-esteem and become empathic, compassionate, independent and productive members of our community.
