On Wednesday, May 4, The League of Women Voters of Wayland presents “WETLANDS:What are They? And Why Should I Care?”
The main speaker for the forum will be Rachel Freed, Section Chief, Wetlands and Waterways Program, Mass. Dept. of Environmental Protection. Ms. Freed is a wetlands scientist and head of a staff of eleven, as well as a trained mediator. Andy Irwin, chair of Wayland’s Conservation Commission, will join in the presentation and Marylynn Gentry will serve as moderator. Ms. Freed’s presentation will include a slide show which will introduce us to wetland plants and animals and will explain some of the ways wetland areas help protect human health, safety and welfare.
