MEMORIAL DAY
The Wayland Library will be closed on Monday, May 30, for Memorial Day.

DIVIDE AND CONCUR
Laurie Nordman of NextStage Associates will be at the library from 7-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, to talk about positive strategies for handing down your personal possessions. The process of passing personal possessions on to your family or friends can be challenging. Join us for a presentation and discussion on ways to simplify this often complicated task. Based on a workbook developed by the University of Minnesota entitled Who Gets Grandma’s Yellow Pie Plate?, this program will help you make sense of the decisions that all of us will make at some point in our lives. Nordman is a professional move manager who specializes in assisting seniors
who are downsizing and relocating as well as assisting families with distributing estates.

ELLEN MOYER EXHIBIT
Works by Ellen Moyer, a native of Wayland who now lives in western Massachusetts, are featured in the library foyer during May. Ellen is an artist and environmentalist who works in many media, including most recently watercolor painting, silk painting, fabric design, pottery, and photography. She is an environmental engineer by profession and through art tries to convey and promote appreciation for the natural world. Her upcoming show at the library is a series of repeating fabric designs (on paper) featuring bacteria, algae, fungi, insects, crustaceans, fish, flowers, and American Indian motifs.

ARTS/WAYLAND ART SHOW
Arts/Wayland members will have an art show in the Raytheon Room during May. The public is invited to join members of Arts/Wayland for an artists’ reception at the exhibit on Sunday, May 15, from 2:30-4:30 p.m.

SHAKESPEARE WITH HELEN WHALL
“Shakespeare on the Screen” with Professor Helen Whall has started! The final program will be on May 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the Raytheon Room.

LIBRARY BOOK GROUPS
This year’s book groups are winding down for the summer but will start up again next year. Newcomers are welcome at both our book groups. The evening group will meet on Monday, June 6, at 7:30 p.m. and will be reading Road Home by Rose Tremain. For more information, contact Andy Moore at 508-358-2311. The daytime group will meet next on Friday, June 10, at 12 noon and will be reading Telex from Cuba by Rachel Kushner. For more information about the daytime book group, contact Kathy Powers, also at 508-358-2311. Both groups meet in the library’s Raytheon Room.

GREAT DECISIONS
Our next Great Decisions group will meet on Friday, May 13, at 9:15 a.m. in the Raytheon Room and the topic will be “Responding to the Financial Crisis.” As an immediate response to the financial crisis of 2007–08, governments around the world stepped in to bail out troubled private

STORYTIMES
Join us in the Raytheon Room for integrated arts programs for preschoolers with Sharon Engler on Tuesdays in May from 10:30-11:15 a.m. Sharon is currently the Music Enrichment Teacher at Wayland Creative Preschool’s program. For ages 3-5. Siblings welcome. Registration is not required. We ask that parents and care givers participate in storytime activities with their children.

BICYCLES!
Springtime is a wonderful time to get out in the great outdoors, and for many people bike riding is their activity of choice. Our lower-level display case is devoted to bicycles during May. It’s load with gear, pictures, and all sorts of information about bicycles. Come by and take a look.
