On Monday, September 19, at 7 p.m., Dr. Steve Bromberg, chiropractic neurologist at the Brain Balance Center of Danvers, is offering a discussion of the bestselling book Disconnected Kids  by Dr. Robert Melillo. The Brain Balance Program, based on Disconnected Kids, is a brain based approach to helping children with behavior and learning disorders such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorders and dyslexia by strengthening weak areas of the brain. According to Melillo, these weaknesses are manifested in sensory detection and processing, motor skills, academic and behavior problems and represent an imbalance between the two hemispheres of the brain. The program does not rely on drugs, medical procedures, or psychotherapy.

NO-COST AND LOW-COST ENERGY EFFICIENCY FOR YOUR HOME
Architect Doug Sacra, also known at “The Green Guy” in the Town Crier, will be at the library for a series of programs describing home energy saving measures. The first program will be on Tuesday, September 20, at 7:30 in the library’s Raytheon Room. Come join Doug to learn about some no-cost and low-cost ways you can save energy in your home. Doug will review how you can determine where your home’s energy use falls in comparison to best practices, as well as how to measure how much energy various parts of your home use now. Bring your energy bills and the square footage of your home with you if you want to know your home’s rating. This is the first seminar in a three-part series that will include more significant upgrades in October and renewable energy systems in November. Co-sponsored with the Wayland Energy Initiatives Advisory Committee.

JOY OF GETTING THINGS DONE
Are you a person who is always disorganized and just doesn’t use time effectively? Do you struggle to keep up with personal tasks and to-do’s? Do you want to change your ways but doesn’t know where to start? Life Coach Linda King will explain how these behaviors are not the consequence of lack of will power or self-discipline.  Rather, an absence of having effective systems in place hinders people from making the changes that they want to make in their lives. King’s presentation will introduce people to those systems and give them some specific skills and strategies to help meet their goals. Her goal is to have audience members leave with a realistic, achievable approach to meeting those challenges that hold them back and feeling empowered to make immediate, positive changes in their lives. Monday, October 3, 7:30 p.m. in the Raytheon Room.
