The Wayland-Weston Crew Girls 4+ boat raced through a pack of boats in the curviest race in the world at “The Head Of The Charles” this past Sunday.  They finished 25th out of 76 boats and earned a qualifying spot for next year’s race.  In the middle boat from left to right are:  Coxswain Georgia Parker, Emily Phaneus, Elaine Hunt, Sam Kolovson and Kira Palmer (stroke).

The Wayland-Weston Crew team has raced in 4 “Head” races (approximately 3 miles long), over the past 4 weekends.  Racing in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, the boys varsity 4+ boat has won 2 races, come in 3rd in another and just placed 9th out of 77 boats in the Head of The Charles Regatta.  As a lightweight boat racing in an open weight race, they were proud to be amongst the top 10 boats, in the second to largest race in the world.    Sporting their gold medals from The Textile River Regatta from left to right are Ian DeLaney, Jakub Buczek, Jon Heinlein (stroke), Alden Harwood, and Carly Skehan (coxswain).   They also won gold medals at “The Head of the Housatonic”  in Connecticut and they captured the bronze medals at “The New Hampshire Championships”.
