Wayland Town Crier 1/20/12: Pelham Island Road Bridge to temporarily close beginning Feb. 15. The Pelham Island Road Bridge will be being closed from February 15, 2012 until somtime in November 2012, town officials said. Thru traffic will not be possible. The one-lane temporary bridge which crosses the Sudbury River and connects the towns of Wayland and Sudbury is being reconstructed. The new bridge, which will cost around $2.3 million, will have a replicated arch structure, similar to the existing bridge, according to construction documents. The bridge rail will be a concrete Texas style rail, also similar to the existing rail type. Minor roadway improvements will eliminate drainage problems.
