An Alert to Comcast Subscribers receiving Analog TV signals

From Wayland's Cable Advisory Committee:  We would like to alert the Town's Comcast Subscribers that Analog CATV signal are being terminated on 3/19/12. Letters from Comcast should have been received by all, but this is sent as an extra notification. The conversion has the greatest effect on the subscribers to the lowest service tier, which Comcast calls Limited Basic (they will no longer accept new subscribers for this tier), but any subscriber who has directly-connected analog TV devices will lose signal for them. Those now receiving them only digitally will not be affected.  Details are below.

An Alert to Comcast Subscribers receiving Analog TV signals.

If you are now using analog television equipment to receive Comcast cable signals, you probably received a letter from Comcast notifying you that you will need to obtain and install a digital adapter for each analog TV set if you don’t already have one. That’s because Comcast will be changing to all-digital broadcasting on March 20. Comcast will supply up to three adapter units to Limited Basic Servicesubscribers at no additional charge. If you subscribe to a higher tier of service than Limited Basic, you already have at least one digital cable box; if you need more, Comcast will furnish up to two at no additional charge.

It is essential that you order the digital adapters by the date specified in Comcast’s notice. If you fail to do so, you may lose television reception as of March 20, even if your television sets already have the capability of receiving digital signals over the air.

In addition to the improved signal quality promised by Comcast, the new digital service will increase the number of cable channels available with Limited Basic Service from about eleven channels currently transmitted by analog signal to about thirty-five digital channels. Please note that WayCAM’s Channel 99 is expected to be available digitally with Limited Basic Service on March 20.

Should you not have the Comcast notice on hand or for more specific information, you may contact Comcast at www.Comcast.com/digitalnow or 1-877-634-4434.
