“Celebrate National Volunteer Week with SOAR 55” , APRIL 17, 7-8:30 pm at WAYLAND PUBLIC LIBRARY, 5 Concord Road, Raytheon Room

Hear from a panel of SOAR 55 volunteers who are doing innovative things in our community including Wayland resident John Wilson, who is helping incarcerated women prepare for the entrance exam to Boston University’s “College behind Bars” program at MCI, Framingham. Learn how volunteering can be a pathway to engagement in your community and a way to utilize expertise, learn new skills, make connections and new friendships and give back to the community. SOAR 55 provides a personalized, thoughtful and professional volunteer search with links to over 80 nonprofit and public organizations. With over 100 assignments, SOAR 55 can facilitate the best volunteer placement to meet your needs.

SOAR 55 is a program of Newton Community Service Center and part of a national network of volunteer agencies that mobilize adults, age 55 and over, to contribute their skills and experience to help strengthen and expand the capacity of local community service organizations in Newton and MetroWest
