Russell’s Garden Center is honoring Earth Day on Saturday, April 21st, 2012. Join with  environmentally-conscious people across the country and around the globe who will be participating in similar events this weekend to learn about conservation for a sustainable future. Russell’s has a day planned to focus on ideas for local impact featuring lecture topics on Organic Lawn Care, Native Trees & Shrubs, Organic Alternatives for Pest & Disease Control, Vegetable Gardening, & Backyard Composting. Local companies will have staffed booths available from 11 – 3 p.m. to offer information on the following:

• Second Generation Energy – designers & installers of residential and commercial solar energy systems
• Pure Pest Management – promoting organic & all natural controls for deer, ticks, mosquitoes & indoor bugs
• Pearl’s Premium Grass Seed – producers of low maintenance & drought resistant lawn seed
• Refreshing lemonade will be available, made to order, by When Life Gives You Lemons as they also promote Hanson’s Farm CSA memberships.
• Wayland Conservation Commission – providing information on Wayland community garden plots.
