Confusing vote at Town Meeting leading up to school audit

Wayland Town Crier 4/26/12: Confusing vote at Town Meeting leading up to school audit. At the fifth and final night of annual Town Meeting, Wayland voters opted for further scrutiny of Wayland Public Schools finances, with the approval of a recommendation to audit all of the district’s fee-based accounts and programs, including associated checking accounts, for fiscal years 2007 to 2012. After passage of the original petitioners’ article, presented by School Committee member Shawn Kinney, Finance Committee Chairwoman Cherry Karlson pointed out that motion contained two conflicting sources of funding – free cash and the school budget.
