New evaluation rules for teachers

Wayland Town Crier 6/24/12: New evaluation rules for teachers.  Local school districts are gearing up to implement a state-mandated new teacher evaluation system that gives teachers a greater role in the process.  Wayland Superintendent Paul Stein said MCAS data must be used carefully because a handful of students in a class of 25 could skew the results.  “I don’t look at this instrument as a gotcha for teachers,” said Stein, whose district does not have to implement the evaluations until 2013. “I look at it as an opportunity to really focus teachers on professionalism.”
