LUNCH and LEARN, Wed., Aug. 22, Noon at the COA, Difficulty sleeping?  RN and Certified Holistic Nurse Suzanne Reitz of Parmenter Community Healthcare will discuss options to consider (i.e. aromatherapy). Luncheon provided by Traditions. No charge.  Call the COA to make a reservation.

Fri.   Sept. 7, 12:30pm   COA MOVIE MATINEE:  GIRLFRIEND (filmed in Wayland) Showtime: 12:30pm, ENJOY self-serve popcorn, and cold drinks from our “Hospitality Cart” —it’s all complimentary! Bring a friend, and/or bring your lunch.GIRLFRIEND, 94 minutes; Drama; Good Reviews “emotional, compelling, moving”;  Starring Amanda Plummer, Jackson Rathbone and Shannon Woodward.  The movie introduces actor Evan Sneider, a former Wayland resident as well as Daniel Turnbull and his father, the late Joe Turnbull, also of Wayland. GIRLFRIEND, directed by Wayland’s Justin Lerner, has been an award winner at independent film festivals.

Wed.  Sept. 12  10-11:30am  COMMUNITY SALUTE TO RETIRING VETERANS AGENT JOHN TURCHINETZ.  Please stop into the COA between 10 and 11:30am on Wednesday, Sept. 12. We will be paying a special tribute to John Turchinetz to recognize his commitment to Veterans and the Wayland community.  State Rep. Tom Conroy is scheduled to present a citation at 10:30am.  Special cards are available in the COA for personal notes  that will be placed in a special scrapbook being prepared for John. If you are not available Sept. 12, please mail or drop off a card to be included.  Continental Breakfast will be served. The Black Eagles Jazz Band pianist, Bob Pilsbury will provide patriotic background music with special songs from WWI, WWII and more. Reservations are not needed; just drop in at your convenience that morning to be part of  our special salute.
