Let’s Help Pam Washek – It’s a Piece of Cake!!

Monday, August 27th, 4-7pm at St. Ann’s Church, Wayland

Please join us on Monday, August 27th, as we sell cakes to raise money for our friend and neighbor Pam Washek. Pam left on Monday to begin a cancer treatment program in Nevada. Unfortunately, this treatment is not covered by insurance, so the Washek family will be responsible for the full cost, over $100,000. A fund has been set up at Middlesex Savings Bank in Wayland (checks should be made out to “Friends of Pam Washek”). All proceeds from the cake sale a s well as other donations dropped off at the event will go directly to Pam’s fund.

In addition, we thought it would be nice to create a care package of love and support to send Pam while she in undergoing her treatment. With that in mind, there will be tables set up at the sale with paper, scissors, doilies, markers, etc to be used to create beautiful cards and messages for Pam. If you enjoy scrapbooking, pages will be available for you to bring your supplies and be creative! If you have any pictures of Pam and her family, bring them so we can add them to the scrapbook. As you think about your card, don't forget that Pam enjoys a good laugh!

Pam, a lifelong Wayland resident, is the founder and Executive Director of Neighbor Brigade, an amazing volunteer network originating in Wayland, and now established in over 27 communities. Wayland Neighbor Brigade has over 400 volunteers and has provided over 1,000 meals, numerous rides to doctors’ appointments etc. , and constant support to our Wayland neighbors suffering from crisis. (Please visit www.neighborbrigade.org for more information about this incredible organization).

The cakes for the sale will be provided by the devoted volunteers of the Wayland Chapter of Neighbor Brigade. If you are not a member of Neighbor Brigade, but would like to donate a cake (either home baked or bought), cakes can be dropped off at St. Ann’s Church on Sunday, August 26th from 10:00-2:00 and on Monday, August 27th from 10:00 to 4:00. Please use the door on the left as you face the church and leave your cake (labeled to tell us what type of cake, wrapped and ready to sell!) in the kitchen on the lower level of the church.

If you would like to contribute a card to the care package, but cannot attend the function on Monday, please contact Anne Becker, Wayland Neighbor Brigade Chapter Leader (WaylandMA@neighborbrigade.org) and we will make it happen. Pam’s care package will be s ent on Tuesday, August 28th. If you would like to contribute to Pam’s fund, but are not able to join us, please mail your donation check to Friends of Pam Washek, Middlesex Savings Bank, 70 Main Street, Wayland, MA 01778.

We look forward to seeing you on Monday!
