A talk by Doug Harris: Preservationist for Ceremonial Landscapes, Deputy Tribal Historic Preservation Officer for The Narragansett Tribe, Saturday, October 27, 2012 2PM Senior Center Wayland Town Building 41 Cochituate Road, Wayland, MA (free)

In 2008 the National Park Service ruled that Native American ceremonial stone landscapes are eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places. Since then, public acknowledgement and protection of ceremonial stone sites has increased across New England, including in Wayland.  Narragansett Tribal input has provided creative solutions, saving ancient Tribal ceremonial sites, while working within the challenges of today's world. Doug Harris will discuss ceremonial landscapes, preservation challenges, and solutions, including wind turbines in the Atlantic.
