Preview of the November 5, 2012 Board of Selectmen Meeting

The Board of Selectmen will meet on Monday, November 5, 2012 in Town Building. The Selectmen will first convene for an executive session at 6:30 p.m.; the public portion of the meeting should begin at approximately 7:15 p.m.

After reviewing the agenda and receiving public comment, Selectmen will meet with Police Chief Robert Irving to review his recommendation to make Mitchell Street one-way northbound and King Street one-way eastbound weekdays between 6:00 and 9:00 a.m. The recommendation follows a traffic assessment made at the urging of residents on those streets concerned about morning commuter cut through traffic and the safety of school children. Following this discussion, the Board will discuss the planned restrictions on traffic related to the proposed Department of Public Works facility on River Road.

After considering the consent calendar and reviewing correspondence, Selectmen will affirm their current mission statement and vote on the draft set of policy goals and priorities for the year ending September 30, 2013. The Board will then listen to the report of the town administrator, which will include a review of capital project submissions and an update on future meeting agenda items. During Selectmen’s Reports and Concerns, the Board will discuss general items of concern and schedule office hours to be held later in November.

The public portion of the meeting begins at 7:15 p.m. in the Selectmen’s Meeting Room.
