Wayland Town Crier 2/14/13: Summing up the blizzard: Wayland and Weston work overtime. The coffee machines were running on overtime last weekend as Weston and Wayland public safety officers and Department of Public Works staff pulled brutal hours to dig their towns out of the blizzard that dumped over 2 feet of snow on the area Friday night through Saturday. In Wayland, 30 DPW employees and vehicles, plus 20 pieces of hired equipment, responded, spreading 160 tons of sand and salt over the roadways, according to Steve Kadlik, director of highway operations.
A total of 1,541 man hours, 1,173 of them overtime, went into the effort, he said.
