Town Meeting: The Road So Far, The Road Ahead

Wayland Patch 4/9/13: Town Meeting: The Road So Far, The Road Ahead. Wayland voters have already spent seven hours in the field house at Wayland High School on the way to disposing of Articles 1-14 of the 2013 Annual Town Meeting Warrant. The town has a Fiscal 2014 operating budget ($72.3 million) that doesn’t include funding for WaylandCares (that was removed from the budget by a vote of 150 -122); it has a capital budget of $3.1 million and the monies are in place for Wayland Middle School roof repairs. Land near the current Wayland Transfer Station will be transferred back to the Conservation Commission, but funding was denied for a new Department of Public Works facility and garage at a site on River Road. Funding was appropriated to study the Loker Conservation Area for the future construction of up to three athletic fields, and voters added the public buildings director to the list of non-residents who can answer questions at town meetings. But there is much that remains to be done when voters return to the field house tonight at 7:30 p.m.
