Boston Marathon fundraising windfall

NECN 4/22/14: Boston Marathon fundraising windfall. Runners in last year’s Boston Marathon raised $20.6 million for officially-affiliated charities, and all expectations are this year’s will raise millions of dollars more – thanks in no small part to committed overachievers like Suzy Shapiro. She was among a group running in support of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society last year when the bombings caused the race to be suspended. “Where I was stopped was almost at the top of Heartbreak Hill, and I just really felt like, ‘I have some unfinished business,'” Shapiro, a Sudbury resident who works at Russell’s Garden Center in Wayland, remembered in an interview Tuesday.
