Wayland is pleased to be a municipal partner in MetroFest, a showcase of the region’s music, arts and culinary offerings.  The first event of its kind in the region, MetroFest is a project of the MetroWest Visitors Bureau.  It is expected to attract more than 8,000 visitors, 25 food trucks, and a wide range of activities for guests of all ages.  The event will take place on September 20th, 2014 from 11 am to 5 pm rain or shine at the Bowditch Athletic and Cultural Complex located at 475 Union Ave, Framingham, MA.

Wayland will have three tents:  the municipal tent, Arts/Wayland, and the Golden Tones.  In addition, the Wayland Daddios will perform on the community stage.  Any group interested in contributing to the display of Wayland’s cultural, environmental, and arts programs is encouraged to contact Mary Antes (mantes2@verizon.net).

Admission fees are only $5 for guests ages 13 and up, and only $2 for children ages 5-12.  There is no charge for children ages 4 and under, and all will enjoy free access to bounce houses, face painters, and entertainment.

There is no parking at the Bowditch Complex!  Free shuttles run continuously, 10:45am-5:15pm from three nearby Framingham lots:

  1. McCarthy Elementary School, 8 Flagg Drive
  2. Fuller Middle School, 31 Flagg Drive
  3. Middlesex County Juvenile Courthouse, 110 Mt. Wayte Avenue

Wayland is proud to participate in The MetroWest Visitors Bureau’s MetroFest 2014 presented by Middlesex Savings Bank, a showcase of the region’s music, arts and culinary offerings.  Wayland, MA is one of the inaugural municipal partners in the festival, the first event of its kind in the region.  MetroFest is expected to attract more than 8,000 visitors, 25 food trucks, and a wide range of activities for guests of all ages.  The event will take place on September 20th, 2014 from 11 am to 5 pm rain or shine at the Bowditch Athletic and Cultural Complex located at 475 Union Ave, Framingham, MA.

Wayland will showcase the natural resources and unique organizations that make it a great place to live.  Discover more about our conservation trails, the soon-to-be-developed rail trail, our historic theater, historical society, music, and local artists.  Wayland’s own Daddios will be performing on the main stage.

John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band headlines the SKYBOKX 109 GastroSports Main Stage, and joins Steve Smith and the Nakeds in entertaining the crowd.  Quality artists/crafters will feature one-of-a-kind items for sale, while regional organizations will draw crowds and engage visitors with presentations of year-round programs and raffles for memberships and prizes.  Communities from throughout the region will showcase their favorite cultural organizations, destinations and attractions on a Community Stage presented by MetroWest Medical Center.

Food Truck Festivals of New England, well known for putting on an eclectic culinary event and drawing crowds from great distances, have arranged participation by 25 prestigious mobile eateries, with an appearance by celebrity chef Chris Coombs (Boston Chops, Deuxave and dbar).  Trucks hail from throughout the Bay State; MetroWest trucks include Benny’s Crepe Café (Framingham), Captain Marden’s Cod Squad (Wellesley), and Trolley Dogs (Natick), among others.
