Founding Chapter Welcomes Co-Leader as it Prepares for a Busy Fall

Neighbor Brigade, a Massachusetts non-profit organization that transforms communities into caring networks through which volunteers help their neighbors during times of crisis, announced today that its Wayland chapter has expanded its leadership to include resident Mary Barber. Mary will join Wayland Chapter Leader Anne Becker, who has been volunteering for the organization for more than four years. Together, they will work to increase awareness about the organization, recruit new volunteers and ensure that Wayland residents know they have another resource available to them when life becomes unmanageable.

“Mary and I want our chapter to be a recognizable resource for Wayland families in need,” said Becker. “I’m excited to have Mary’s help as we enter a busy time for our organization. Thanks to the generosity of some local merchants we have several fundraising events scheduled for this fall, and our annual Pam’s Run, a road race and walk named in memory of our founder and life-long Wayland resident Pam Washek, is set for October 18.”

Upcoming Neighbor Brigade activities in Wayland include:

  • September 23: Shop Wayland Whole Foods Market where Neighbor Brigade will be the recipient of 5% of that day’s net sales.
  • September 29: Orange Leaf in Town Center will donate 15% of all sales between 4-9 p.m. to Neighbor Brigade.
  • October 13: 10% benefit evening at The Local. The restaurant will also donate one meal a week to Wayland recipient families.
  • October 18: second annual Pam’s Run at 10:00 a.m. with start/finish line at the Claypit Hill Elementary School. Learn more and register at http://www.pamsrun.com.

Neighbor Brigade will have a tent outside of Whole Foods in Wayland on the four weekends leading up to Pam’s Run, beginning on September 20. Please come by to learn more about the organization and upcoming events.
