Sudbury Valley Trustees hosts presentation on Bald Eagles in Massachusetts, Tuesday, November 18

Bald_Eagle-27527-9Sudbury Trustees is hosting a presentation by Andrew Vitz, Ph.D., State Ornithologist, Mass. Division of Fisheries and Wildlife, on the success of restoring Bald Eagles to our state. After being extirpated from Massachusetts in the early 1900s, Bald Eagles were reintroduced to the state in 1982. This reintroduction involved “hacking” juvenile birds from artificial nests along the shores of the Quabbin Reservoir. This effort was successful, and the first nesting eagles were documented in 1989. Today eagle populations continue to grow and have expanded their range to include nearly the entire state of Massachusetts. This presentation will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at Wolbach Farm, 18 Wolbach Road, Sudbury. Registration is required. Members: Free Non-members-$10.
