Thanks to a generous grant from the Wayland Public Schools Foundation and a STARS grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Wayland High School students are participating in the “Collective Identity Art Project” with muralist Josh Winer as part of a school-wide collaborative effort to create public art in the entry of the south building.

The project began with a school-wide presentation by Mr. Winer in January, exploring different types of public art and the ways in which a school community can be represented in a large scale artistic format.  The topic of identity and art was explored in all advisories and then students participated in sketch sessions with Mr. Winer to continue to generate ideas.  Currently, two art classes have continued to work with their art teacher, Mrs. Armentano, to further refine the design and incorporate ideas from the school community.  The students will be working with Mrs. Armentano and Mr. Winer in May to complete installation of the project by early June.

Mr. Winer will be meeting with parents and any members of the community who would like to hear more about the project on Friday, May 1, 7:45am at Mrs. Mizoguchi’s Parent Information Exchange at at WHS.  Please come to learn more about the project.
