High School Summer Community Service Program

Parents needed to chaperone and drive in order for this program to run. Please contact recreation office at 508 358-3660 to request CORI form.

Dates: June 30-August 11, 2015
Grades: Entering 9th through graduating seniors
When: Meetings on every Tuesday at Wayland Senior Center, 5-6pm
Fee: $75 – Registration through the Recreation Department (online here: http://www.activityreg.com/clientpage.wcs?clientid=WAYLAND&siteid=1)

Have fun this summer doing community service with your peers. Students meet every week on Tuesday nights (5:00-6:00pm) to discuss projects and participate in fun activities. The volunteer projects take place on weekdays, evenings, and some weekends. You many bring your own project ideas. Projects in the past have included:

  • Gaining Ground-organic farming
  • Cradles to Crayons
  • Claypit Hill School organic garden
  • Parmenter Food Pantry-packing and delivering food
  • A Place to Turn-food drive
  • Salvation Army-making sandwiches
  • Assisting elderly residents-chores and yard work and tech help
  • Wayland Conservation-trail maintenance
  • Pearl St. Cupboard and Cafe

You can participate in as many activities as you want and for as many weeks as you want. For more information, contact Jennifer_reed@wayland.k12.ma.us
