Golden Tones chorus gives back to community for “Giving Tuesday”

Golden Tones Giving Tuesday 1Renowned for bringing the gift of music to the MetroWest community, Golden Tones chorus is now going one baby step further. In an early celebration of “Giving Tuesday” – the global day of charitable giving on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving – the chorus collected a “mountain of diapers” to meet a pressing need among families in financial distress in MetroWest.

tcwOn a recent Tuesday, at their weekly rehearsal, Golden Tones chorus members collaborated with a neighborhood preschool, The Children’s Way, to create the “mountain of diapers,” (a total of almost 4,500!). The diapers were delivered to A Place to Turn in Natick, from where they will be distributed to MetroWest area families.

According to The Diaper Project at A Place to Turn, a new initiative in the community, there are no government programs to help purchase diapers, and about 3,000 low income families in MetroWest struggle to provide their babies and toddlers with a sufficient supply to remain clean, dry and healthy. The Diaper Project at A Place to Turn aims to provide diapers to families, with help from volunteers working with schools, faith communities, businesses, civic groups and other organizations.
