Wayland High School’s talented a cappella groups — the Muses, T-Tones and Madrigals — will be appearing at the Spring College A Cappella concert at WHS this Saturday, March 19 at 7:30pm.
“We love rehearsing and bonding as a group,” said Ben Slater, who sings with the T-Tones, “[but] the best part is performing, and seeing the results of our hard work.”
For a night of great local entertainment open to the public, nothing will beat Saturday’s line-up: the Muses (12 female singers), the T-Tones (12 male singers), and the Madrigals (10 member co-ed group). The evening will be hosted by WHS students/entertainers William Paik and Nour Sayeh.
Alongside Wayland’s own performers, three outstanding college a cappella groups will also be performing: the RIT Brick City Singers, the Brown University Brown’sTones, and the Northeastern Nor’easters.
A cappella music features fresh arrangements of both classic and contemporary songs performed by unaccompanied singers, though vocalists sometimes emulate instruments. Having experienced a huge surge in popularity in recent years, a cappella attracts the most talented singers on high school and college campuses nationwide.
The concert will be held at the Wayland High School Theater, located at 264 Old Connecticut Path. Seats are general admission and doors open at 7 p.m. The concert will have one intermission with complimentary refreshments served.
Priced at $18, tickets are available at Donelan’s, Russell’s Garden Center, and online at the WHS CAPA website. A limited number of tickets will also be available at the door. You can find pictures, videos, and additional information on the concert’s Facebook page.
The a cappella concerts and art sales are major fundraisers for the Creative Arts Parents Association (CAPA), the organization that supports all Wayland High School arts, music and theater programs. For more information, to join the mailing list, or to make a donation, visit www.whsarts.org.
