Town Meeting to weigh future of civil service for police officers

Wayland Town Crier 11/2/16: Town Meeting to weigh future of civil service for police officers. Town Meeting is slated to weigh in this month on whether the town’s police force should continue to be part of civil service. No other town departments participate in civil service and the police chief position is already not part of civil service, Police Chief Robert Irving said. Irving said it is challenging for small departments like Wayland to go through the civil service hiring process.
