Three talented college a cappella groups are coming to the Wayland High School Theater to perform at the Fall College A Cappella Concert on Saturday, December 3, at 7:30 pm!  They will be joined by WHS’ own T-Tones, Muses and Madrigals for a night of great entertainment lead by MCs Addison Kay and Lauren Horowitz.

Each year, the College A Cappella concerts are a musical highlight of Wayland life. A cappella music features fresh arrangements of both classic and contemporary songs performed by unaccompanied singers, though vocalists sometimes emulate instruments. Having experienced a huge surge in popularity in recent years, a cappella attracts the most talented singers on college campuses nationwide!

Featured college groups are the all-male Northeastern UniSons, the all-female Simmons Sirens, and the co-ed Harvard-Radcliffe Veritones. The Veritones will also lead a special master class for the Wayland a cappella groups before the concert.

The Northeastern UniSons, founded in 2008, are Northeastern University’s only all-male a cappella group. The UniSons performed in the semi-final round of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella in both 2014 and 2016 and received awards for Outstanding Arrangement and Vocal Percussion. The Harvard-Radcliffe Veritones, founded in 1985, are one of Harvard’s premier contemporary, co-ed a cappella group. They are known for their originality, poise and electrifying stage presence. The Simmons Sirens, founded in 1989, are the one and only student-run a cappella group at Simmons College. They have competed in national a cappella competitions and regularly perform at Simmons as well as in the Boston area.
