Bill seeks ban on Native American mascots

Wayland Town Crier 2/26/17: Bill seeks ban on Native American mascots. For many in Northborough and Southborough, the tomahawk is a symbol of pride for the high school teams, but a bill before the state Senate seeks to ban all Native American mascots and logos at public schools across the state. Algonquin is not alone. Locally, if passed, the bill will also likely affect the Assabet Valley Aztecs, Bellingham Blackhawks, Lincoln-Sudbury Warriors, Medfield Warriors, Millis Mohawks, Nipmuc (Mendon and Upton) Warriors and Wayland Warriors.
