ADULT PROGRAMS

  • Climate Change, the Economy, and National Security Educator, grandmother and environmentalist Ariel Hoover examines the causes of climate change and its impact.  Learn how we can ensure our country’s future well-being (and yours) with existing practices, and what we can do to see that our children and grandchildren inherit a beautiful, living earth.  Thursday, September 6 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Library Walking Club. Join us for a 30-minute walk along a route near the library!  All ages and levels are welcome. Meet at the library at 10:30 on the first Friday of the month, September-December, rain or shine! Friday, September 7 at 10:30 a.m.
  • Learn about Pollinators and Make a Mason Bee Hotel  Insects pollinate by accident, but for us humans pollination is absolutely essential: one-third of all plant species that become our food requires it. Wayland resident Kaat Vander Straeten will teach us about pollination from the point of view of the insects, the flowers, the farmer, and the 100% of our population that needs to eat!  Monday, September 10 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Rail Trail Update, Hurray! Five miles of the Wayside Rail Trail are nearly complete!  What’s next?  Find out when Larry Kiernan gives an update on the Trail between Wayland and Westondiscusses plans to extend the trail east and west over the next few years, and explains the state’s master plan for building 104 miles of trail from Boston to Northampton.  Wednesday, September 12 at 7:30 p.m.

BABY AND PRE-SCHOOL PROGRAMS

  • Weekly Storytimes
    • Mother Goose Time (Infants-2.5 years) Tuesdays, Aug. 21, Sept. 4, 11 and 18 at 10:30 a.m.
    • StoryVine (2.5 -5 years) Thursdays, Sept. 20 and 27 at 10:30 a.m.
  • Zumba Kids Jr., Rhythm and dance program for children ages 2.5 to 4 years old. Led by Hayley Chizinsky of H2K Happy Healthy Kids Fitness Studio. Tuesday, August 28, 10:30-11:00 a.m.
  • Storytime with Corbyn the Dog, Children will listen to dog stories and have a chance to visit with Corbyn, a beautiful Samoyed. Corbyn (with her owner Helen) has been certified as a therapy dog by Pets and People Foundation.  For ages 3 and up. Thursday, September 6, 10:30 a.m.
  • Sing-along with Jeannie Mack. Jeannie Mack will perform all kinds of fun, bounce-around, sing-along songs for young children. Plenty of opportunity for audience participation! For babies, toddlers, and preschoolers with caregiver. Thursday, September 13, 10:30-11:15 a.m.
  • Music and Movement, Get your wiggles out! Songs, dances, and stretches for walkers to age 5. Wednesday, September 19, 10:30-11:00 a.m.

SCHOOL-AGE PROGRAMS 

  • Drop-in Family Game Day, Spend quality time with your children and their friends and play board games at the library. A great time to catch up with friends before school starts! For ages 4 and up, with caregiver. Wednesday, August 29, 3:00-4:30 p.m.
  • Lego Club, Children will make fabulous creations out of legos. This month’s theme: Robots! For ages 5 and up. Wednesday, September 5, 3:00-4:00 p.m.
  • What’s Our Story?: Musicians, Children will learn about the musicians Esquivel and Ella Fitzgerald, listen to their music, and make their own shakers and crazy instruments. Program led by librarian Elise Katz. For children in grades K to 2. Wednesday, September 12, 3:30-4:30 p.m

FOR TEENS: Teen Movie Night: Love, SimonCome to the library and watch Love, Simon with your friends! Snacks will be served. Rated PG-13. Running time 109 minutes. For teens in grades 6 and up. Thursday, August 30, 6:30 p.m.
