Opposition to proposed 40B project

Wayland Town Crier 10/9/18: Opposition to proposed 40B project. A local board has rejected a developer’s bid for a permit to build an apartment complex containing three affordable units on School Street. The Conservation Commission voted 3-2 with one abstention on Sept. 27 to deny the permit for the Windsor Place project that calls for 12 apartments in two buildings on less than an acre. The project would be built under state law Chapter 40B in which a developer can bypass local zoning regulations when less than 10 percent of a town’s housing stock is classified as affordable. Wayland is below that threshold.
