Each year the Sudbury-Wayland-Lincoln Domestic Violence Roundtable sponsors a family for the holidays, and each year we invite our local communities to become involved in making the holidays brighter for families affected by domestic violence.

There are a number of ways that you can help. Sponsoring a family can be a wonderful way for you and your family to do something together to help others. You can also involve extended family, neighbors, and friends. Or perhaps your colleagues at work, your book club, scout troop, civic organization, or club would like to organize a collection.

For those who cannot sponsor a family, gift cards to retail stores for food, clothing, and other necessities are welcome. Popular stores include Marshall’s, TJ Maxx, CVS, Target, and Stop and Shop. Wrapping paper, ribbon, and tape are also needed. Whatever you can do to help is deeply appreciated.

Three local agencies offer services and programs for families affected by domestic violence. All of these programs conduct a Holiday Drive. Advocates from each agency sit with survivors and provide help with “wish lists” for them and their children.
