SVT Announces Projects for National Volunteer Week

SVT volunteers helped build a trail at the Forty Caves Conservation Area in Berlin and Clinton during a past year’s National Volunteer Week.

Sudbury Valley Trustees (SVT), a nonprofit land conservation organization, invites the public to participate in several volunteer projects during National Volunteer Week 2019, which is scheduled for April 7–13.

SVT conserves open spaces and working farms in the 36 communities surrounding the Sudbury, Assabet, and Concord Rivers. SVT also works to improve the health of local forests and meadows, and the organization creates hiking trails so the public can explore and enjoy nature.

Projects and programs planned for National Volunteer Week include:

  • SVT Volunteer Orientation, Monday, April 8, 6:00–7:30 pm: Learn about year-round volunteer opportunities. Orientation will be held at the organization’s headquarters in Sudbury.
  • Office Volunteer Night, Thursday, April 11, 6:00–8:00 pm: Help SVT prepare a spring mailing in a collegial environment at the organization’s headquarters.
  • Trail Work, Saturday, April 13, 9:00 am–Noon: Join the effort to create a hiking trail at SVT’s newest property, the Smith Conservation Land in Littleton.
  • Buckthorn Pull, Saturday, April 13, 9:00–11:30 am: Help remove this non-native invasive plant from the lovely Memorial Forest in Sudbury. Appropriate for families.

To register for any of these events or the orientation, please contact Debbie Pullen at dpullen@svtweb.org, 978-443-5588 x123. More information is available at www.svtweb.org/volunteer.
