Registration opens May 1 for Household Hazardous Waste Day Sponsored by the Board of Health
The Wayland Board of Health is pre-registering Wayland residents for its next Household Hazardous Waste collection day.
When: Saturday May 18th from 9am to 11:30 am
Where: the DPW Garage at 66 River Road
Residents are encouraged to dispose of household hazardous waste at this event. Participation helps to protect the environmnent from hazardous waste being disposed of improperly.
To sign up please complete a pre-registration form on which you may choose a half-hour slot on May 18th between 9 am and 11:30 a.m. The pre-registration slots are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Beginning on May 1st, you may complete a registration form online at https://www.wayland.ma.us/health/hhwd
Also, forms will be available in the Board of Health office, Wayland Town Building lobby, Council on Aging (all at Town Building, 41 Cochituate Road), Wayland Public Library (5 Concord Way), the Wayland Transfer Station & Recycling Center (484 Boston Post Road).
Completed forms must be submitted to the Board of Health office by Friday, May 17 at 12pm. Additional information regarding the location of the collection and the types of household hazardous waste that will or will not be collected is also listed on the registration form. In its announcement, the Board cited the need to minimize the generation of household hazardous waste by encouraging homeowners to buy smaller quantities of paint, solvents, cleaners, pool supplies, pesticides and other hazardous materials that are needed, to utilize non-hazardous materials (if possible), to share leftover supplies with neighbors or others who might be able to use them, and to donate paint and other useful materials to organizations that might be able to use them.
