ADULT PROGRAMS

  • Trivia Night.  We play four rounds of five questions each.  Categories vary and include current affairs, pop culture, sports, history, science, and everything in-between.  Watch our Facebook page for clues! Registration is required.  Sign up as a team of 2-6 people, or as an individual willing to be placed on a team.  Thursday, May 16 at 7 p.m.
  • Decoupage Tray Workshop. Using Mod Podge and choosing from a broad selection of special papers, including maps, musical scores, children’s books pages, etc., participants will create a decoupage tray.  Participants are also encouraged to bring their own special papers, if they prefer.  Wooden trays will be provided.  Limited to 10 participants.  You can register online or by calling the library.  Saturday, May 18 at 2 p.m.
  • Dueling Dragons: The Struggle for Ireland 1849-1875. Marjorie Harshaw Robie’s unique perspective comes from family diaries she found after an epic search,and from other first-hand accounts from newspapers and personal letters of the time.  It includes the lives of three remarkable, interconnected men who struggled through much of the 19th century in a rapidly changing Ireland, and whose stories were told in their own hand or through the news of the day.  Sunday, May 19 at 2:30 p.m.
  • New Monthly ESL Short Readings Group. Read a short story or article in class, discuss the reading, and practice your English skills.  No preparation needed!  This group is best for intermediate and advanced English speakers.  Registration is required.  Know someone who could benefit?  Spread the word!  Starts Monday, May 20, 10-11:30 a.m.
  • Help Shape the Library’s Future. As part of creating our state-mandated Strategic Plan, we’re holding an open meeting to discuss the future of the Library—and the town—over the next five years.  It’s essential that we hear from the wider community.  Please attend if you can, and offer your thoughts.  RSVP at info@waylandlibrary.org or 508-358-2311.  Thursday, May 30 at 7 p.m.

BABY AND PRE-SCHOOL PROGRAMS

  • Weekly Storytimes
    • Mother Goose Time (Infants-2.5 years) Tuesday, May 21 at 10:30 a.m.
    • StoryVine (2.5 -5 years) Thursdays, May 16, 23 and 30 at 10:30 a.m.
  • Saturday Stories. Join Miss Maureen for stories, songs, and a craft at this Saturday storytime. For babies to age 5, with caregiver. Saturday, May 18, 11:00-11:30 a.m.
  • Inclusive Playgroup: Stories, Songs, and Sign. This interactive, inclusive music and literacy group is for young children at all levels of communication and ability. Facilitated by Beverly Mobilia of Wayland Community Partnerships for Children and Families. For ages newborn to 3 years. Wednesday, May 22 at 11:30-12:15 p.m.
  • Zumba. Rhythm and dance program led by Hayley Chizinksy of H2K Happy Healthy Kids Fitness Studio. For ages 2.5 to 4 years. Tuesday, May 28, 10:30-11:00 a.m.
  • Brain Building Storytime. Storytime, parachute play, and brain building activity. Program led by Beverly Mobilia of Wayland Community Partnerships for Children and Families. For ages 2 to 5, with parent/caregiver. Wednesday, May 29 at 11:15 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

SCHOOL-AGE PROGRAMS

  • What’s Our Story?: Planting Trees. Learn about two remarkable women with a passion for planting trees: Wangari Maathai and Kate Sessions.  After listening to picture book biographies about these two women, children will decorate flowerpots and plant their own pizza herb gardens.  For children in grades 1 through 3, with caregiver. Wednesday, May 22, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
  • Drop-in Family Game Day. Spend quality time with your kids and play games at the library! We will have board games and card games set up to play. For ages 4 and up, with caregiver. Wednesday, May 29, 3:00-4:30 p.m.
