Wayland residents return to Peru with Hatun Runa

For over a decade Hatun Runa has been working in remote villages in the Northeastern Andes of Peru. These forgotten villages are thousands of miles from the crowds and tourists in Cuzco and Machu Picchu. With limited or no health care, clean water, sanitation, electricity or educational materials, everyday life is a struggle. We focus our efforts on providing medical and educational resources and necessities to these communities by providing solar power for their health posts and schools, as well as critical medical equipment, educational supplies and training.

WHERE DOES YOUR MONEY GO?

This summer our intrepid crew of volunteers from Massachusetts, Colorado, and Germany will join our amazing team in Peru. We will be revisiting the village of Chilchos – accessible only by a 26-mile hike on a narrow trail, crossing over high altitude and slogging through knee-high mud. We will be delivering school supplies and monitoring the construction of a new school which we started funding last summer. We will also perform maintenance on the solar system that was previously installed at the health post.

All of our volunteers pay for all of their travel expenses. 100% of your donation goes to our projects.
