The National Weather Service is forecasting excessive heat Friday through Sunday. Hot temperatures combined with high humidity levels are expected to create dangerous heat conditions with the most oppressive conditions expected on Saturday and Sunday. Prolonged exposure to heat and humidity will increase the risk of heat-related illnesses.

The Wayland Public Safety Building Training Room will be opened as a cooling center from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. for residents that may need a place to cool off during the expected heat wave starting Friday through Sunday.  In addition, the Wayland Public Safety Building will be opened 24 hours each day during this time.

Stay hydrated and please check in on your neighbors, especially the elderly.

If you have any questions, please call the Wayland Police at 508-358-4721. For emergencies call 911.
