23nd Annual Dudley Pond Run/Walk, September 22

23nd Annual Event Is Open to all Runners and Walkers, Adults and Kids; USATF-Sanctioned

The 23rd annual Dudley Pond Fun Run will be held Sunday, September 22. Proceeds benefit the Dudley Pond Association’s efforts to preserve the quality of Dudley Pond and fight invasive pondweeds. There are four events for all ages and abilities: a 5-kilometer race sanctioned by USA Track & Field, a 2-mile competitive walk, a kids’ race, and a non-competitive fitness walk.

Sylvia Greene of Passion to Move will lead the fitness walk starting at 9 a.m. It will be followed by the kids’ fun run at 10:30 a.m. and at 11 a.m. by the 5-kilometer race and the 2-mile competitive walk.

The new earlier times will make it convenient for more people to participate. And it’s cooler and more comfortable for runners and walkers earlier in the day.

With advance registration, the fee is $6 for the kids’ fun run and $20 for all other events. Preregister as a member of a running or walking team of five or more and pay just $18. On race day, the fee is $8 for kids, $25 for adults.

More information and instant online registration for all events are available at www.dudleypond.org. More information and the registration form also can be obtained by writing Dudley Pond Run, PO Box 5114, Wayland, MA 01778-4137 or calling (508) 655-1923 or 781-696-3445.

The first 50 registered adult runners and walkers will receive an official race T-shirt. The race will be held rain or shine.

The race begins at Mansion Beach, located at Mansion Road and Lakeshore Drive, near Route 126 and West Plain Street, in Wayland, Mass. The event will loop around the pond with a short hilly route through the residential area.
