The Wayland Museum & Historical Society’s September art exhibits at the Library

The Wayland Museum & Historical Society’s program this September consists of two exhibits at the Library for the month of September.

RAILS TO TRAIL IN WAYLAND exhibit, Wayland Library Raytheon Room

Photos and information from the Wayland and Weston Historical Societies, Rick Conard, Joel Angiolillo, and Larry Kiernan hint at the massive changes wrought by railroads – the Internet of the 1800s.  Trains thundered through Wayland for almost a century until the end of service in 1980.  Today, walking or riding on the newly paved Mass Central-Wayside Rail Trail, folks can use a handy guide available from the Depot to learn how the freight house, turntable, and water tanks functioned to support these behemoths as they bisected the town.

Fifteen Vintage photographs, selected from a set assembled for the nation’s bicentennial in 1976, and a FIVE CENTURIES TIMELINE developed for use with the 3rd grade program on Wayland’s role in the events leading up to April 19, 1775 – the original “Patriots Day.”
