Next up for Citizens Academy: The Facilities Department, October 10

On October 3, the Citizens Academy got off to a good start, hearing from the Town Planner, the Building Inspector, the Conservation Administrator, and the Executive Director of the Housing Authority.  At the next session, October 10, we will learn about the Facilities Department, which is responsible for all municipal buildings and for everything from utilities and custodial to renovations, such as the work going on at the high school, to capital improvements and planning for things such as new projects or athletic fields.  We will also hear from Human Resources/Employee Benefits.  Including the schools, Wayland has about 1,000 employees and 10 unions.  On October 17, the focus will be on the Health Department and emergency planning and on October 24, the Finance Department.  All meetings are free and open to the public; they begin at 7pm in the Town Building.
