On Sunday, Oct. 27, at 2:30 p.m., Wayland archaeologist Tonya Largy will give a talk at the Wayland Public Library titled “Mansion Inn: The Making of a Scholar.” The talk will focus on the Mansion Inn archaeological site, and on Largy’s former mentor and colleague, renowned archaeologist Dena Dincauze. Dincauze, who died in 2016, was called “a towering figure” in her field. She was a leading expert on ancient environments and the archaeology of native peoples in New England. She was well known for her work on the Mansion Inn site in Wayland, an important Native American cremation burial site. Largy is an archaeological consultant specializing in the analysis of plant and animal remains. She studied under Dincauze at UMass Amherst. Light refreshments will be served after the program.
