Residents applaud return of apple orchard in Wayland

Wayland Town Crier 10/29/19: Residents applaud return of apple orchard in Wayland. Apples have always had a special place in New England history. The region’s climate is particularly conducive, allowing a variety of different apples to flourish here. In fact, the first apple orchard on the North American continent was planted in Boston in 1625, dating back to the founding of the original Massachusetts colonies. The town of Wayland has its own piece of that history through the Heard Farm Heirloom Orchard, located on the 85-acre conservation land of the same name.
