ADULT PROGRAMS

  • Holiday Wrapping Party. Stop by the library for a festive gift wrap party.  Enjoy coffee and tea, treats, holiday music and company.  Bring your gifts to wrap.  We’ll provide the paper, ribbon, scissors and tape. We’ll also gratefully accept donations of wrapping paper and ribbon.  Thursday, December 19 from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m.
  • Great Presenters: The History and Future of Farming and Conservation in New England. Brian Donahue will look at the development of farming, woodlands, and conservation along the Sudbury River from pre-European times to today.  He’ll then discuss the possible future of farming in New England, in a changing world.  Donahue is Associate Professor of American Environmental Studies, and sits on the boards of the Thoreau Farm Trust and The Land Institute.  Tuesday, January 7 at 7:30 p.m.
  • A Conversation about a Plant-Based Lifestyle. Over the last few years, health coach and yoga instructor Nancy Wind has embarked on a seasonal plant-based lifestyle, embracing her passion for seasonal cooking.  Would you like to know how you can improve your own health and wellness by eating more plants, legumes, and other non-animal products?  Are you aware of the impact a plant-based diet has on our environment?  Come share your thoughts and learn from others, with Nancy’s guidance.  Wednesday, January 8 at 7 p.m.
  • Wanted: Raytheon Room Art for January. The Library Raytheon Room has ample display space for works large and small.  Contact Elizabeth Bradley at the Library for information and an application.

BABY AND PRE-SCHOOL PROGRAMS

  • Weekly Storytimes
    • Mother Goose Time (Infants-2.5 years) Tuesdays, Dec. 24; Jan. 7, 14 and 21 at 10:30 a.m.
    • StoryVine (2.5 -5 years) Thursdays, Dec. 19, 26; Jan. 2, 16, 23 and 30 at 10:30 a.m.
  • Noon Year’s Eve Party. Ring in the New Year early at the library! There will be crafts, games, a dance party, and more. We will countdown to noon and have a special celebration when the clock strikes 12. Drop in! For ages 3 and up. Tuesday, December 31, 10:30-12 p.m.
  • Inclusive Playgroup: Stories, Songs, and Sign. This interactive, inclusive music and literacy group is for young children at all levels of communication and ability. Facilitated by Beverly Mobilia of Wayland Community Partnerships for Children and Families. For ages 1 to 3 years, with caregiver. Wednesdays, January 8 and 22, 11:30-12:15 p.m.

SCHOOL-AGE PROGRAMS

  • Family Movie Afternoon.  Children are invited to watch the movie Abominable at the library! Running time 97 minutes. Rated PG. Popcorn will be served. Friday, December 27, 2:00-4:00 p.m.
  • Brick Day: Lego Challenges. Come show off your best building skills in these Lego challenges. There will be prizes. For ages 5 and up. Wednesday, January 8, 3:00-4:00 p.m.

FOR TEENS

  • Holiday Gift Wrapping Party for Teens. Bring in your holiday gifts and wrap them in plenty of time for the holidays. Librarian Laura will lead the gift wrapping workshop and WHS student Jaelin will teach calligraphy for those of you who want to make the gift tags extra special. The library will supply gift wrap and ribbon. Thursday, December 19, 7:00-8:00 p.m.
  • 6th Grade Parent/Child Book Group. This book discussion group is for 6th graders with a parent. January’s book is Look Both Ways by Jason Reynolds. Need a copy? Come to the Children’s Room and check one out. Wednesday, January 8, 7:00-8:00 p.m. We will meet in the Teen Loft.
