Heat Pumps Explained: Climate-Friendly Home Heating and Cooling Options

Electrifying your home’s heating system with a heat pump is one of the most effective ways to reduce your overall carbon footprint and make your home more comfortable in all seasons.

On March 4, from 7-9 pm, in the Large Hearing Room at the Wayland Town Building (41 Cochituate Road), Energize Wayland and the HeatSmart Alliance will host a presentation about cold-climate air-source heat pumps, geothermal systems, and heat pump water heaters. You will learn about suitable options for your home by talking with installers, neighbors who have installed systems, and HeatSmart Alliance volunteers. You will also learn about available financial incentives.

Homeowners who want to learn why heat pumps are climate friendly, who don’t have air conditioning (these systems also cool in summer), or who have an aging heating system (more than 15 years old) and want to know about replacement options should attend this event. If you can’t make it to this one, a sister event will be held on Feb. 29, 1-3 pm, at the Harvey Wheeler Community Center in West Concord. Check out the many other things you can do in the face of the climate emergency on EnergizeWayland.org.
