ADULT PROGRAMS

  • Sunday Sips & Sounds: Celtic Fiddle and Cello. Enjoy a free concert and cup of coffee or tea in the library rotunda, once a month from January through May.  Elizabeth and Ben Anderson, a Boston-based Scottish fiddle and cello duo, will blend Scottish tunes with lively rhythms and innovative harmonies. The Anderson siblings create a sound rooted in tradition and inspired by the contemporary. Sunday, March 8 at 3 p.m.
  • Documentary: Left on Pearl. Left on Pearl examines a highly significant but little-known event in the history of the women’s liberation movement: the 1971 takeover and occupation of a Harvard University building by hundreds of Boston-area women.  One of the few such actions by women for women, this action led directly to the establishment of the longest continuously operating women’s center in the U.S.  Executive Producer Susan Jacoby will take questions after the screening.  Wednesday, March 11 at 7 p.m.
  • 3D-Design Workshop: Rocket Ship. In this workshop, participants will design their own rocket ships using Blender, an advanced 3D-design software program.  Proficiency with mouse and keyboard is highly recommended.  For ages 9 and up. Parents of younger children (8 years) are welcome to register, but are encouraged to stay and design with their children.  Registration required.  Thursday, March 19 from 4:30-6 p.m.

BABY AND PRE-SCHOOL PROGRAMS

  • Weekly Storytimes
    • Mother Goose Time (Infants-2.5 years) Tuesdays, March 3, 10, 17 and 24 at 10:30 a.m.
    • StoryVine (2.5 -5 years) Thursdays, March 12, 19 and 20 at 10:30 a.m.
  • Singalong with Jeannie Mack: Stories, Songs, and Sign. Jeannie Mack will perform all kinds of fun, bounce-around, sing-along songs geared for young children. Plenty of opportunity for audience participation! For ages babies to 4 years. Thursday, March 5, 10:30-11:15 a.m.
  • Prewalkers Lapsit. Together we will learn fun and interactive ways to promote early brain development. Our group includes soft songs and lap bounces, which encourage early communication. Facilitated by Beverly Mobilia of Community Partnerships for Children and Families. For ages newborn to 1 year, or pre-walkers, with caregiver. Wednesdays, March 11 and 25, 11:30-12 p.m.
  • Inclusive Playgroup: Stories, Songs, and Sign. This interactive, inclusive music and literacy group is for young children at all levels of communication and ability. Facilitated by Beverly Mobilia of Wayland Community Partnerships for Children and Families. For ages 1 to 3 years, with caregiver. Wednesday, March 18, 11:30-12:15 p.m.
  • Kids Yoga. Sonia Gomez from Serfi Yoga will give a yoga class for children, toddlers to age 5. Thursday, March 12, 1:30-2:15 p.m.

SCHOOL-AGE PROGRAMS

  • Let’s Build: Saturday Lego Time. Get together with your friends and build with legos at the library. Drop-in! For ages 4 and up. Saturdays, March 7 and 14, 2:00-3:00 p.m.
  • Can You Catch a Leprechaun? Children will listen to an Irish folktale, build a leprechaun trap, and snack on Irish soda bread. For ages 5 and up. Wednesday, March 11, 3:00-4:30 p.m.
  • Kids Chess Club. Children will learn chess and get tips to improve their game. This is a beginner’s club for children with little or no chess experience. Wayland High School Junior Miranda Lee is the club leader. For children ages 7 and up. Thursday, March 12, 4:00-4:45 p.m.
  • STEAM Team: Forensics for Kids. Learn crime-solving techniques like fingerprinting, chromatography, and collecting clues. For ages 5 and up. Wednesday, March 18, 3:00-4:30 p.m.

FOR TEENS

  • Teen Winter Reading Challenge Prize Drawing. Teens who participated in the Teen Winter Reading Challenge are invited to the raffle drawing for our three prize packs! If you missed the challenge you are still welcome to join for the raffle drawing to support your friends. Snacks will be served! For teens in grades 6-12. We will meet in the Teen Loft. Wednesday, March 5, 4:00-4:45 p.m.
  • TAB Meeting: Favorite Book Series. Teens! Come to our Teen Advisory Meeting to talk favorite book series. We’ll chat about your current reads, all-time favorites, and share some new series we think you’ll love. Snacks will be provided! Let us know if you need allergy safe options. For teens in grades 6-12. We will meet in the Teen Loft. Thursday, March 12, 3:45-4:45 p.m.

FOR FAMILIES

Storytime at Russell’s Winter Farmer’s Market. Join librarians from Wayland Public Library and Goodnow Library for storytime at the Russell’s Winter Farmers’ Market. Storytimes will be held on the second floor of Russell’s Garden Center, located at 397 Boston Post Road. For ages babies to 5, with caregivers. Saturdays, February 29; March 7 & 14 11:30-12:00 p.m.
