The White Ribbon Campaign summit, “Tough Guys and Gentle Men: Healthy Men in the Age of #MeToo,” scheduled for Saturday, March 14, at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Lincoln, has been postponed because of COVID-19 concerns.
The summit, presented by the Sudbury-Wayland-Lincoln Domestic Violence Roundtable, will likely be rescheduled to a later date this year.
The summit’s planned agenda included keynote speakers Dan Lebowitz of Northeastern University and Emma Brown of the Washington Post, as well as breakout discussion groups. The theme was examining what it means to “be a man” in today’s culture.
The White Ribbon Campaign, a worldwide movement, intends to raise awareness about the prevalence of male violence against women. The campaign enables men and boys to speak out against all forms of violence and to work as allies to eliminate relationship violence.
As part of the White Ribbon Campaign, on March 10 in Wayland, the Domestic Violence Roundtable presented a screening of the short film “Boys Don’t Cry” and a group conversation. The White Ribbon Campaign committee also previously held a series of small group discussions tackling such issues as what it means to be “a man.”
