ADULT SERVICES

  • Let’s Get You Something Good to Read. Now you’ve got all this time on your hands, but nothing to read.  Our crack reference staff can remedy that unacceptable situation with BookMatch, our online reader’s advisory service.  From our home page, click on Services, then Your Next Great Read, then BookMatch.  Fill out the form, and in a few days, we’ll get back to you with tailor-made recommendations.  If you’re not an ebook reader, just hang onto the list until we open the building again.
  • Wayland Historical Society Presentations Online. The WHS has given scores of fascinating presentations at the library over the years.  Now you can see them again–or catch up on the ones you missed.  Just click the big BLOG icon on our home page, and scroll down to recapture Wayland’s experience of trains, floods, aqueducts, World War I and more.
  • 3D Printers Redeployed for Town’s Covid-19 Response. The Library’s two 3D printers are very busy!  While the library building is closed, they’re printing parts for face shields and N95 masks for first responders. This Town effort is a collaboration between Town management and the Library Trustees. Special thanks to Tyler Kenney, Library Reference & Computer Specialist; Beth Doucette, Assistant Town Administrator; and Mike McCann, Town IT Director.
  • Lynda is Back! Lynda.com–everyone’s favorite training and education database–returns to our roster of resources.  Simply log in from our Online Resources page with your Wayland library card and PIN, and enjoy access to thousands of courses.  Learn a new career skill or brush up a current one in software or web development, design, photography, and many more in business, education, and other fields.  You’ve got the time—now you’ve got the means, too.
  • ESOL Goes Online. If you want to improve your English, or know someone who does, you can meet with a tutor online or by phone until you don’t have to be socially distant anymore.  Go to https://waylandlibrary.org/esol-for-students/ for an application.  When you have filled it out, you can email it to Jane-esol@cohen-family.org.  After you’ve applied, someone will phone you when a tutor is available.
