ADULT SERVICES

  • New!  Schedule Your Hold Pickups Online. We just got some great new software that will make pickups easier for everyone.  When you get the email saying your hold has come in, just click on the scheduling link.  You can then select the day and time you want to make your pickup.  We’ll have a corresponding calendar on our end that’ll tell us your choice.  Of course, we’ll still call you if you don’t use email notification.=
  • Museum Passes (Some, Anyway) Available. Drumlin Farm, Garden in the Woods, the Zoos—basically, the outdoor places.  Check the venue’s website to learn the current policy.  For technical reasons, we still have to keep our reservation system closed, but you can reserve a pass by calling us 9-8 p.m. during the week and 10-1 on Saturdays.  We’ll arrange a pickup time with you.  Then you’ll have somewhere to go!
  • Intention Setting Workshop. This is a disorienting time.  Nothing is normal and yet we try to get as close to normal as possible.  There is so much push and pull between what we feel we should be doing, what we are called to be doing, and what we are or aren’t able to do.  Join life coach and Wayland resident Gabriella Feingold to set intentions–to ask ourselves who we want to be.  Sign up here or through our home page’s Events calendar to receive the Zoom info via email.  Monday, July 20 at 7:30 p.m.
  • A Powerful Community Reading: Watch It Now. On July 2 of this year, the Library gathered thirty-seven people–most (but not all) of them from Wayland–for a group reading via Zoom of Frederick Douglass’ stirring 1852 speech, “What, to the Slave, is the Fourth of July?”  Another twenty-five people joined simply to listen.  The result was a moving occasion for everyone involved.  Fortunately, it was recorded by WayCam and is now online through our blog so that you, too, can be part of that experience.
  • Libraries Are For Everyone. Please take a look at our “Read Against Racism” page, which includes the Library’s statement in response to the death of George Floyd, as well as multiple resource lists for kids, teen,s and adults who want to learn more about racism in America.  Feel free to email us if you have something to add to our lists, and watch our calendar for upcoming relevant library programs.
  • New Digital Magazines. If you’ve been missing browsing magazines in the library, take a look at Overdrive/Libby. Six new titles were recently added to our digital collection for your reading pleasure: The Economist, The Hollywood Reporter, The New Yorker, The Pioneer Woman, Rolling Stone, and Wired.  Digital magazines are always available and don’t count towards your limit of 10 digital checkouts. You’ll find them on the Minuteman Overdrive site or by selecting “Magazines” under “Format” in Libby’s advanced search.  Feel free to contact us at info@waylandlibrary.org if you have any questions about these or other online resources.
