Wayland Winter Farmers’ Market seeks volunteers

The 2021 Wayland Winter Farmers’ Market will open on Saturday, January 9, with new hours: 11 AM to 2 PM. The market takes place at Russell’s Garden Center in Wayland. This season, most of the vendors will be located outdoors, in unheated greenhouses, under an overhang of a greenhouse, or using a vehicle or tent of their own. In other words: there will be lots of fresh air! Each week there will be approximately 30 vendors in these outdoor spaces.

Indoors you will find 7 additional vendors, including apples, top quality baked goods, artisan bread, mushrooms and microgreens. There will be lots of space and we will be monitoring the number of shoppers so that we stay within the requirements of indoor capacity allowed.

Most of the vendors will offer preorders, which will be available for pickup at the vendor site.

Mask wearing and social distancing will be required at all times throughout the market and all areas of Russell’s.

In order to help facilitate the market, we are seeking individuals who would be willing to volunteer outdoors for an hour and half to help us with customer counts and directing shoppers through the large footprint of the market to help them find their way to their favorite vendors. Please email pegm@russellsgc.com if you are interested in volunteering.

The market will include a section for those who are seeking frozen and fresh prepared foods. Let them prepare a meal for you for a change! Unlike years past, there will be no sampling or eating and drinking while visiting the market or Russell’s. We look forward to the time when we can go back to doing that again! In the meantime, thanks so much for your support of the vendors as we begin our 12th season!
